What Are Some Bodybuilding Supplements You Can Use As A Beginner?

Can bodybuilding supplements help you as a beginner when you are looking to lose fat and build muscle? I think they can definitely help you save time and money in the long-run.

Now, don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you consume supplements you will get lean and muscular.

To get the body of your dreams, you will have to work out with discipline at the gym as well as take care of your diet and nutrition.

When it comes to nutrition, you need to be eating healthy foods with the correct portions of macronutrients such as proteins, vitamins, and fats.

As you already know, to build muscle, you will need to consume about 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body weight every day.

Try to get as much of this protein from whole foods as possible. So eat a lot of foods rich in protein.

If you can hit your daily protein requirement by just consuming whole foods then you don’t need a supplement such as a protein powder.

But if you are unable to get all your protein from whole foods, you can then opt for a good protein powder as a protein supplement.

You might not be able to hit your protein requirement if you are too busy and cannot spend a lot of time-consuming food the whole day. Or maybe you cannot afford to buy a lot of protein rich food and a protein supplement will help you save some money.

So, like you can see, if you don’t need a supplement, don’t buy it. But if you are finding it hard to meet your nutritional requirements, then bodybuilding supplements will make your life a bit easier.

Let us look at some of the common bodybuilding supplements that you can consider on your journey of building muscle and losing fat.

Protein powder

Like I said, the most important macronutrient when it comes to building muscle is protein.

This is because protein will provide your body with the necessary amino acids that are required for building muscle.

As a beginner, when you are looking to build muscle, you should aim to consume 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight if you are an average person and not overweight.

You can consume this protein by eating protein-rich foods and it does not matter whether they are vegetarian or non-vegetarian.

The problem that many people face is that they just cannot prepare and eat a lot of food especially if they lead busy lives whether at studies or at work.

If you are such a person, then a good protein powder can help you hit your daily protein requirements easily.

There are several types of protein powders available based on the source from which they are created such as whey, egg, soy, etc.

The best overall protein powder that I would recommend is whey protein because it is easier on the stomach and you can have it after your workout for best results.

Whey is a by-product of the cheese making process and whey protein is a concentrated powder where you can get from 75 to 90+ grams of protein per 100 grams of protein powder.

And you can get this whey protein in a variety of flavors ranging from the basic chocolate, strawberry, etc. to the flavorful cookies and cream, blueberry cheesecake, etc. to name a few.

You can have the protein powder by simply mixing it with milk or water. You could even add them to your smoothies or make protein pancakes.

So they are quite versatile when it comes to how you can use them in your foods.

Pre workout

A pre-workout can help you get a boost in energy before you hit the gym.

And that can help you give your best performance in the gym. This improves your potential to have a good workout.

There are a lot of pre workout supplements that you could buy based on your preference.

But I find that the cheapest one is a cup of black coffee before my workout. Caffeine is a stimulant that is shown to increase your energy as you have it and works great as a pre-workout.

So try it out. Just have a cup of coffee an hour or so before going to the gym and see if it helps you perform better.

A multivitamin is a bodybuilding supplement that can provide you a daily dose of the required vitamins and minerals.

These can keep your body in top health and this can help your body recover faster from your workouts.

Vitamins are vitamin A, D, E, K that are fat soluble and vitamin C the B vitamins are water soluble.

Minerals are the non-organic elements such as magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, etc.

A multivitamin is cheap and you can use it to help your body get healthier and better at recovering from your workouts and gaining muscle.

Fish oil

Another bodybuilding supplement you can consider for its health benefits is fish oil.

This is made from fatty fish and provides the omega-3 fatty acids essential to the body.

If you consume a lot of fish then you probably get a good amount of omega-3. But if not then you can consider buying a good fish oil supplement.

The benefit of fish oil is that it can help reduce inflammation, muscle soreness, and fatigue by improving the flow of blood in your muscles during and after training.

The omega-3 fatty acids also help lower the bad cholesterol and help protect you against heart disease and stroke.

It is also known to increase the serotonin levels in your body that will make you feel relaxed and help prevent anxiety, depression, and stress.

Omega-3 is also known to improve insulin sensitivity. This means that your body works efficiently when it comes to burning body fat and building muscle.

Another one of the bodybuilding supplements that you might have heard of is creatine. Your body also produces creatine and you can also get some of it from high-protein foods such as fish and red meat.

The benefits of creatine are that it is supposed to provide you enhanced performance in your workouts.

It is also known to improve muscle size and strength and help you recover faster from your workouts.

Frankly, I’ve just used creatine for a few days when I bought some protein powder and got a jar for free. I did find that my performance and recovery was a bit better when I used creatine but I stopped using it because I did not want to spend on another supplement.

I hope this post has helped you know about the bodybuilding supplements that you can use as a beginner.
