Hi! My name is Kevin and I am the creator of GainYourBody.
My goal is to teach beginners how to lose fat, build muscle, and get in the best shape of their lives.
Just like you, I am on this fitness journey to lose fat, build muscle, and get in the best shape of my life.
I am going to be the fitness crash test dummy that can help you learn from my successes and avoid the mistakes that I make.
When I was young, I was a big fan of pro wrestling and being fit meant being jacked like those wrestlers.
Growing up, I became a software developer being interested in programming. But like a lot of software developers, I ended up spending a lot of time on the computer and eating junk foods like chips and soda.
It was a few years later that my body started to feel the effects and life forced me to take my fitness seriously.
In 2009, my immune system was at it’s lowest and I had difficulty breathing. I was rushed to the hospital where the doctors told me I had pneumonia and pleural effusion. It meant that a lot of fluid had collected near my right lung and needed a major surgery.
A major surgery later when I woke up in the ICU, I was missing a rib and a part of my lung but what I gained was the will to change my life.
I understood that I had treated my body badly and promised myself that I would never end up in a hospital because I neglected it.
A few months out of the hospital, I started learning more about fitness, nutrition, and health.
Like most beginners, I started searching for information in magazines and the Internet. And was overwhelmed with the tons of information there.
I began trying all sorts of things when it came to cardio and diet.
I bought some dumbbells and a pull-up bar and started some basic strength training exercises at home.
While I did make some decent gains, I made some serious mistakes:
Since then I have been able to lose 20 pounds and gain them back again. I have also made some decent muscle gains though I still have a long way to go.
I want to make the next couple of years my best when it comes to building muscle and losing fat. My goal is to reach 10% body fat and build an additional 10 pounds of muscle this year.
Learning and teaching about fitness, weight loss, and building muscle are now my passion.
I want to reach out to people like me who are beginning their fitness journey but cannot find the right direction.
I want them to find the right information, tools, and resources that they can apply in their lives and reap the benefits.
